Euro 2012 Daily: D-oubt Sets In (EPL Talk Podcast)

England and France make it through, but only by the skin of their teeth. Sweden ran France into the ground whilst hosts Ukraine made life difficult for the islanders. Overall, the more interesting Quarter-final ties won out. The configuration: something to marvel at as England face Italy and France come up against Spain.

  1. local says:

England is not an island. Britain is an island. England is just part of the island.

    • Laurence says:

      Hi local,

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll be careful not to make the same mistake in future.

England is part of Britain which is an island, right? So as part of that, they are islanders?

There is a question over whether England is an island at all, because it is connected by a tunnel. Maybe we should also pick up on the proper definition of island: surrounded by water on four sides.

      Hope you enjoyed the podcast,

      Laurence
