The United States Women’s National team dominated the airwaves last week with both of their opening matches coming in as the two most-watched soccer matches of the week. The two matches averaged 3.975 million viewers on the FOX broadcast network and an additional 675,000 viewers on Telemundo for a combined 4.65 million average viewers. FOX is averaging 1.03 million viewers through their first 24 broadcasts of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with matches on the FOX broadcast network averaging more than 1.7 million viewers and matches on FOX Sports 1 averaging nearly 460,000 viewers. In the opening weekend of the 2019 Copa America, Telemundo Deportes yielded a total audience delivery average of 1.14 million viewers across Telemundo, the Telemundo Deportes website as well as the Telemundo Deportes and NBC Sports apps, which surpassed the 2015 opening weekend average by 132%. The opening weekend of the FIFA Women’s World Cup averaged 1.068 million viewers across the networks of FOX and Telemundo. Over 75% of viewers so far have elected to watch the tournament in English as FOX and FOX Sports 1 are averaging 808,000 viewers through their first seven broadcasts.
