The 2018 FIFA World Cup Final between France and Croatia averaged 17.2 million viewers across the FOX network and Telemundo combined including online viewership. Not reflected in the viewing number is the out-of-home viewership, which included huge numbers that watched the game in bars, restaurants and public watch parties across the United States. Telemundo acquires Copa America TV and streaming rights for Spanish-language broadcasts

On the heels of a very successful broadcast of the 2018 World Cup, Telemundo Deportes has acquired the Spanish-language broadcast rights to the 2019 Copa America. Hosted in Brazil, the 2019 Copa America will feature Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and invited teams from Japan and Qatar. The winner of the 12-team tournament will earn the right to compete for the 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup. FOX Sports has leapt ahead of Telemundo in generating more TV viewers for World Cup games on English-language television compared to Spanish-language TV for the first 11 match days. The World Cup games on FOX and FS1 are averaging 2,208,563 viewers, while Telemundo’s average is 2,048,063.
