Ahead of Friday’s FIFA World Cup Draw that will be televised live on Telemundo and Universo beginning at 9:30am ET, Telemundo Deportes has announced more details regarding its coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. With the network having the exclusive Spanish-language TV rights in the United States, Telemundo Deportes will televise 56 of the 64 World Cup games on Telemundo, which is available as an over-the-air channel as well as on many cable and satellite providers. Telemundo Deportes’ star commentator Andrés Cantor will be in England this weekend to commentate the Manchester United against West Ham United match for the Spanish-language broadcaster. Cantor will be joined by co-commentator Manuel Sol to bring Spanish-language viewers in the United States the debut of Javier Hernandez for West Ham United. Telemundo Deportes’ exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the FIFA Confederations Cup averaged 1.2 million total viewers and 605,000 adults 18-49, and delivered 46 million streaming minutes on digital platforms. The coverage reached over 16 million viewers on television, outperforming Univision networks’ broadcast of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, which aired in similar time periods by +47% and +29% respectively, according to Nielsen.
