This season has proved to be one of the most gripping ever, with nothing between the top six and very little defining the relegation places. As always, managerial dismissals have been a talking point but some of the football being played deserves it’s plaudits and is sure to make the […]
Leeds United under Simon Grayson rose from a League One side to a promotion contender into the hallowed Premier League. Grayson took over and steadied a rocking ship and has to be given credit for this. Despite starting strongly in Grayson’s first full season in charge, Leeds stumbled near the […]
Leeds United have long enjoyed the support of boisterous fans with Elland Road considered as one of the most intimidating and hostile environments for visiting teams. Despite the financial crisis which resulted in the fall of Leeds into the third tier of English football for the first time, the Whites […]

Manchester United legend Nobby Stiles was, for at least one day, a Leeds United supporter. If you don’t believe me, watch the video below to see a clip of Stiles being interviewed during half-time of the Leeds United against Coventry City match from 1987. The match, which was played at […]
This week’s stand out result for entertainment value in the Championship this weekend has to be the game between Burnley and Leeds at Turfmoor.
Leeds entered the game in the play off places whilst Burnley were sitting in the top half of the table within striking distance of the play off mix.
Due to the weather it was a much reduced Championship fixture list with Doncaster, Hull, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth all unable to host a match due to pitch and safety concerns. This did not stop this weekend being action packed with each fixture averaging three goals per game. […]
Overall the draw is a tough one for the Championship with more than 10 sides facing Premiership opposition, whilst increasing the chances of a relative upset it also means that a strong Championship presence in the fourth round and beyond is limited.
Tomorrow night two of the promoted sides from League One Millwall and Norwich, face each other in a division where making the step up from the division below, does not automatically limit the ambitions of that club to securing safety.
This season two previously established Premier League sides and a London team at peace with it’s less than wholesome image, have set out to prove that in the Championship, you are only as good as your last performance and clamber their way towards the promised land of the Premier League.
So with a third of the season already under their belts how have the three promoted teams fared so far?
We have just passed the quarter mark on the season and it’s time to take a look at how the clubs are faring. This is the first of three installments covering each of the 24 clubs in the nPower Championship. I hope you will feel free to add your comments […]

Soon to be joined by another two and probably three in Charlton, Southampton and Norwich. All these clubs have tasted the sweet nectar of life in the Premier League only to later sup […]

The news just keeps getting worse for Leeds United Football Club (LUFC). The club has called in administrators and is facing a major financial crisis. LUFC had made a public appeal for would-be investors to contact the club as a last-gasp chance to stave off administration. With a Supporters Trust […]
I keep using the word “unbelievable” to describe so many of the events this past weekend in football whether it was Man United’s comeback win against Everton, or the unbelievable (in a disgusting sense) developments at Elland Road. To relive the moments that happened to Leeds after the debacle of […]
Here’s video footage of the relegation battle from the Championship including the demise of Leeds and Southend along with the already-relegated Luton Town (who were top of the table near the beginning of the season).
A massive win for Birmingham on Sunday in a tough Midlands derby with Wolverhampton sent the Blues back to the top of the Championship. On-loan striker Andy Cole opened the scoring, Nicolas Bendtner powered in a header and Cameron Jerome scored late on before Colin Doyle’s late penalty save sealed […]

The deal was sealed much earlier in the season, after the soccer world was abuzz with his USMNT World Cup performance and standout appearances for the Sounders. For a […]
Readers of this site know I don’t typically post pieces on one particular youth prospect going abroad. But, Cody Arnoux is a player I have been tracking for a long time and it’s refreshing to hear that he may be latching on with a big English club. Soccer by Ives […]
Dave Whelan, the owner and chairman of Wigan Athletic has today been discussing his feelings that a Premiership club going bankrupt is only a matter of time due to the level of debts certain clubs are carrying. Whilst I think he may be overcooking the situation a little but if […]
‘Tis the summer transfer season and virtually every player is being linked to Manchester City and Chelsea. In order to win, a team obviously needs good players. Chelsea needs to address the age of their squad and their aging stars. Manchester City, however, has spent something north of 500 million […]

Bayer Leverkusen will be without Mexican striker Javier Hernandez for this weekend’s Bundesliga match at Darmstadt with a torn buttock muscle, his club announced on Wednesday. ‘Chicharito’ suffered the injury in Leverkusen’s 3-1 defeat at home to Werder Bremen in the quarter-finals of the German Cup on Tuesday and clutched […]
Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil are Arsenal’s big guns (I’d also probably add Petr Cech as well), there is no denying that. The dynamic offensive duo are major talents and have been brilliant during the current campaign. Alexis has netted 10 total goals on the season, despite missing a chunk […]
The beginning of a remarkable demise for Manchester United was the 0-3 defeat against Arsenal in October. As you’d expect, especially in England, the manager is the one taking all the flak, and on this occasion, rightly so. To be frank, Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United were never made […]
