5 players Arsenal should offload this summer

Arsenal are mostly done with their additions to the squad this summer. This, however, could change if the north London outfit were to shed some players from their ever-increasing first-team list. Listed below are five players that manager Unai Emery and company could sell to both fund another transfer target and shift player wages around. While the combined transfer fees of these players may not be astronomical, the reported collective salaries of this quintet would free up around £12.5 million per season. Joel Campbell Campbell’s contract has come under question for much of the past year or so. While some ... Read more

Arsenal’s new signings give Unai Emery options to improve defensive frailties

The post Arsene Wenger era is well and truly underway at Arsenal. New manager Unai Emery has already made four new signings for the Gunners, with a common theme: improving defensive solidity. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen), center back Sokratis (Borussia Dortmund), wing back Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus), and holding midfielder Lucas Toreira (Sampdoria) have all been acquired to shore up a leaky defense that conceded 51 goals last season, the most of any side in the Top 6. Now that the dust has somewhat settled on Arsenal’s transfer business this summer, let’s take a look at how Emery’s Arsenal will ... Read more

Why Lucas Torreira is an ideal signing for Arsenal

Arsenal have finally announced the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria. The deal, which was essentially agreed upon by both clubs weeks ago, was delayed due to the player’s involvement in the World Cup with Uruguay. Nevertheless, Torreira has completed his medical in London and the Gunners finally get their new marquee man. During a time in which transfer fees are skyrocketing, Arsenal reportedly receive the 22-year-old midfielder for a reasonable £26 million. Though not pocket change, the cost-to-talent ratio involved in this transfer is outstanding business by the north London club. Torreira has been widely praised for his play ... Read more

Jack Wilshere could still be an effective midfield option for Premier League club

Midfielder Jack Wilshere announced earlier in the week that he will be departing Arsenal this summer. Wilshere, who has been with the north London club for 17 years, claimed that he came to the decision following conversations about playing time with new boss Unai Emery. “I can confirm I will be leaving Arsenal Football Club when my contract expires at the end of June,” Wilshere posted on Instagram. “Following a number of extensive conversations with those at the club, and in particular a recent meeting with the new manager Unai Emery, I felt that I was ultimately left with little ... Alex Iwobi is emerging as Nigeria’s most important player

Alex Iwobi is undoubtedly a polarizing player. The Arsenal and Nigeria midfielder/forward suffers regular scrutiny by both rival fans and supporters of the north London outfit. In fact, he may be the player in the Arsenal team with the lowest approval rating amongst their own fanbase. Yet despite these issues, the 22-year-old player has become a very important asset to the Nigeria national team. Despite the fact that with zero wins in their last five matches leading into this summer’s World Cup, Iwobi has clearly been their top performer. This is especially relevant considering the African team has solid players ... Read more

Sokratis to Arsenal would make perfect sense

Multiple reports suggest Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos (let’s just go with Sokratis) will make a move to Arsenal at some point this week. The Gunners are said to be close to a £16 million ($21 million) agreement with the German club for the defender. Sokratis would join former teammates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, already in North London. While Sokratis may not be a high-profile, world-class center back, he is a quality defender. His signing would bring experience and stability to a depleted Arsenal defense. The 29-year-old center back has over 30 ... Read more

Arsenal new away shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

It’s hard to describe what Arsenal’s away shirt for the 2018/19 season looks like. You can browse through the leaked images below (courtesy of FootyHeadlines), but to put them into words is quite difficult given how unique and dark the design is. The closest I can describe it as is dark modern art. It appears that Puma and Arsenal wanted a dark kit but with a difference. The very dark navy kit features a red textured design that looks unlike anything else we’ve seen. It’s supposedly the last season that Puma will be designing and manufacturing the Arsenal kits, so ... Read more

Arsenal new third shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

Arsenal’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season will be a turquoise jersey with navy trim. Designed by Puma, the third shirt will herald a new chapter in the history of Arsenal Football Club now that Unai Emery has taken charge to replace Arsene Wenger. In the history of the Gunners, the club had an away jersey from 1982 to 1983 that was green and was designed and manufactured by Umbro. The collar of the Arsenal third shirt looks like a polo-shirt, while the sleeves retain a similar hoop design to the just-released Arsenal home shirt for the 2018/19 season. Here ... Read more
