Laurent Koscielny is hurting his Arsenal legacy

Arsenal departed London on Thursday as they are set to begin their preseason tour of the U.S. next week. There was, however, one notable player that was not on that plane to the States: Laurent Koscielny. The 33-year-old captain of the Gunners apparently refused to travel with his teammates. The club confirmed this in a statement posted on their official website. “Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our preseason tour,” read the statement. “We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions. We hope to resolve this matter and will not be ... Read more

Adding Zaha would give Arsenal dynamic attack

George Washington once said “make them believe that offensive operations, often times, is the surest, if not the only (in some cases) means of defense.” Arsenal have been championing this sentiment for years now. Despite the club’s clear issues in defense, the Gunners have submitted a £40 million bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha. Although the bid was quickly rejected, it is thought that Arsenal will return with another bid soon. Zaha, now 26, has made it clear (through his brother) that he wants to join the north London outfit. This brother, Judicael Zaha, has claimed that there is ... Read more

The type of player Arsenal could (eventually) get with William Saliba

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a move for Saint-Etienne center back William Saliba. The 18-year-old defender has been linked with the Gunners for weeks now and has even supposedly agreed personal terms with the north London club. Complications of the potential deal, however, involve his current club’s insistence in receiving the player back on loan for the entire 2019/20 campaign. Nevertheless, it appears that an agreement between the two clubs in the region of €25-€30 million could occur shortly. While possibly loaning out a player like Saliba, especially in arguably the club’s biggest positional need at the moment, is ... Read more

Player departures will be key to Arsenal’s summer

Arsenal, much like the other big Premier League clubs, have gotten off to a slow start during the transfer period. Although Brazilian teenage prospect Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly set to join the north London outfit, the Gunners have yet to make a senior summer signing. This short delay, however, should not alarm Arsenal fans just yet. There is wide speculation that the club is waiting to make an official signing until their new Adidas deal comes into place on July 1st. It would not make much sense to announce a fresh signing with the player sporting the old 2018/19 Puma ... Read more

5 positions that Arsenal need to strengthen this summer

The summer transfer window is a time in which clubs address their weaknesses from the previous year and strengthen the squad as best as possible. For Arsenal, bolstering the team this summer is essential. Money, however, could be a bit of an issue. The club’s failure to secure a Champions League place reportedly slashed their transfer funds in half. Nonetheless, head of football Raul Sanllehi, managing director Vinai Venkatesham, and head coach Unai Emery will look to find reasonable deals for incoming players. Taking the 2018/19 season into account, the Gunners will most likely look at senior players in five ... Read more

Arsenal need reinforcements to switch to a 4-3-3 next season

With Arsenal officially in the offseason now, it is time to start planning for the 2019/20 campaign. The Gunners endured a fairly disappointing 2018/19 season, plagued by injuries and underwhelming performances at important times. However, this summer could provide a decent chance to make some significant changes to this Arsenal team. One of these alterations could be with the formation that head coach Unai Emery deploys. The Spaniard was flexible with his formation and system throughout his first season in north London. Initially starting with a back four, Emery was essentially forced to add an additional center back because of ... Read more

Unai Emery deserves second season at Arsenal

Arsenal’s 2018/19 campaign came to a screeching halt on Wednesday, as they were firmly beaten 4-1 by Chelsea in the Europa League final. The loss means that the Gunners will spend their third consecutive season in the second-tiered European competition. Following the disappointing display in Baku, many Arsenal fans took to Twitter to debate whether or not head coach Unai Emery should keep his job with the north London club. While finishing the season without silverware and missing out on the lucrative top four is certainly unsatisfying, there has been a slight improvement under Emery compared to the 2017/18 season. ... Emery’s Arsenal taking a step in the right direction

Saying Unai Emery has endured a bit of an up and down freshman season with Arsenal would be an understatement. The Gunners dropped their first two matches of the Premier League campaign and then proceeded to go on a 22-match unbeaten run in all competitions. The rollercoaster ride did not, however, end there. Despite falling to fifth in the league table, collecting just one win in their last six matches domestically, Arsenal find themselves in the Europa League final. As inconsistent as they have been lately in the Premier League, Emery’s side has convincingly beaten both Napoli and Valencia to ... Read more
