Fox Soccer Channel 0 – 1 GolTV
Fox Soccer Channel 0 – 1 GolTV

Was it me or was this past weekend one of the poorest weekends of English soccer on Fox Soccer Channel? There was only one live game, the Sunday 1:30pm EST kick-off between Aston Villa and Manchester City (which turned out to the best match). And Saturday’s offering of the Bolton-West […]

Measuring The Quality Of The EPL
Measuring The Quality Of The EPL

If you took the 20 clubs in the English Premiership and had to sort them into three different categories (“Masterful,” “Mediocre” and “Anti-Soccer”), which teams would go into what buckets? Interesting question, right? My point is that wealthy clubs such as Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool have created such a […]

Graeme Souness’s Biggest Mistake
Graeme Souness’s Biggest Mistake

Graeme Souness knows his days are numbered. And it’s his own fault. His extremely negative attitude the past few weeks when answering questions from the press has had a detrimental effect on the team’s play. He’s been clutching on to the injury excuse for a while now, but the fact […]

Premiership Roundup, January 14-15 2006
Premiership Roundup, January 14-15 2006

Other observations from this weekend’s Premiership matches: Liverpool’s Cisse changes his hairstyle again (sheesh). Newcastle adds a new third strip. This one is the new style that Adidas has launched, and looks almost identical to Liverpool’s new home strip (scheduled for release this summer) except that it’ll be red (of […]

Review of "Super Saturday Plus" from Fox Soccer Channel

I finally caught up last night on my weekend-soccer viewing, and I had a chance to review Fox Soccer Channel’s new show, Soccer Saturday Plus in more detail. Here’s what I noticed: 1. They showed the highlights of each of the English Premier League matches, except the Fuham v Newcastle […]

New Content for Premiership Fans
New Content for Premiership Fans

Fox Soccer Channel must have been reading my mind. Two days after my previous post, FSC announced they were adding a new EPL highlight show entitled “Super Saturday Plus.” It wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but it’s encouraging to see Fox Soccer Channel developing new programming. Speaking of Fox Soccer […]

2006 Premiership Predictions: Part Three
2006 Premiership Predictions: Part Three

The managers that will suffer the axe in 2006 are: Graeme Souness, Newcastle. How he’s survived this long, I have no idea. The Scot who should have gotten the axe before the season even started will finally get the pink slip after Newcastle’s season fizzles to a halt. The Tyneside […]

Premiership & The Continental Divide
Premiership & The Continental Divide

Is it any coincidence that out of the top five teams in the EPL table, that four of the five managers are from the continent? Of course, the foreign managers are in charge of big money clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. But what teams in the EPL would […]

2006 Predictions, Part Two
2006 Predictions, Part Two

Current Premiership champions Chelsea will undoubtedly win the English Premier League again this year. But that’s not my prediction. Instead, my prediction is that Chelsea will drop points in their race to the top of the EPL. Here’s how: February 5, home, versus Liverpool. The African’s Nations Cup will hurt […]

Premier League Soccer More Exciting Than Pigskin
Premier League Soccer More Exciting Than Pigskin

It’s official. According to scientists in America, soccer is the world’s most exciting sport. Finally, we have evidence we can share with the “soccer sucks” crowd. But wait. The report notes that in the past 10 years, baseball is considered more entertaining than English Premier League soccer. One reason […]
