Club América’s 2-0 defeat of Landon Donovan’s Club León drew 1.255 million viewers on Univision and Univision Deportes, making it the sixth most-watched Liga MX match of the season and the 12th Liga MX match in 2018 to draw more than 1 million viewers.
The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 averaged 331,875 viewers on FOX Sports 1, up 20% from 275,125 in the 2016-17 campaign.
Atlanta United’s home opening victory over DC United drew an English-language audience of 576,000 viewers to ESPN, beating out every Premier League match on NBCSN this week with the early morning North West Derby coming closest at 511,000 viewers. The match also outdrew every single MLS regular season game broadcast on cable television in 2017.
LAFC also proved a big draw to the Univision network with 429,000 viewers tuning in to their 5-1 road demolition of Real Salt Lake. MLS games are averaging 380,000 viewers through the first two weeks of the 2018 season, up from 316,000 through the first two weeks of the 2017 season.
