Wednesday’s Supercopa Argentina game between Boca Juniors and River Plate will be streamed live and on-demand in HD to soccer fans in the United States and Canada.

River or Boca will create history Wednesday night as neither side has ever won the Supercopa, so it’s a golden opportunity to witness the two biggest teams in Argentina battle it out. Interestingly, it’s only the second time in history that both teams have faced each other in a final. The last time was 1976!

The 2018 Supercopa Argentina will kick off on Wednesday, March 14 at 8:10pm ET. Fanatiz, which recently launched as new and legal streaming service, will stream the game via the Fanatiz website as well as iPhone and Android apps. Fanatiz also has the streaming rights in the United States to the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments.

Featuring last year’s league winners and the champion of the Copa Argentina, the two club’s journey to this Superclasico resulted from Boca being crowned Argentine champions for the 32nd time in the 2016-17 Superliga Argentina season while River Plate earned their place after lifting the Copa Argentina title in their 2-1 win versus Atletico Tucuman.

Established in 2012, five different clubs have been crowned Supercopa champions: Arsenal, Velez, Huracan, San Lorenzo and Lanus. However, no club has ever been able to obtain a second title. Surprisingly, neither of Argentina’s two biggest teams have been able to take the trophy home, and both have suffered two defeats.

Boca Juniors played the first final in 2012 and took the game to penalties, but Arsenal won the cup on penalty kicks. Boca’s second final was in 2015 where they suffered a 4-0 defeat against an inspired San Lorenzo side.

River Plate had their first shot at this title in 2013, but lost against Huracan by a single goal coming from Edson Puch. In 2014, they had another attempt but this time it was Lanus who were the surprise package after they managed to acquire the Supercopa in a 3-0 win.
