Melun (France) (AFP) – Bayern Munich’s French international forward Kingsley Coman will go before a judge later this year accused of domestic violence in an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, sources said on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old was arrested and held by police on Monday morning in the Paris suburb of Chessy, the public prosecutor in Meaux told AFP, confirming an earlier report on Europe 1 radio.

Coman, who in April made his loan move to Bayern from Juventus permanent after the German giants paid 21 million euros ($23 million) for his signature, admitted the charge and will plead guilty when he goes before a judge after the summer recess.

The player, who started out at Paris Saint-Germain and has won 11 caps for France, reportedly got into an argument with his former partner over an advertising contract.

A source close to the affair said it was Coman himself who called the police to report the matter.

“When the police arrived, his ex-girlfriend said she had been hit,” the source added. The woman had to be signed off work as a result, prosecutors said.
