Univision’s broadcasts of the Liga MX Clasura final topped this week’s charts as UDN’s broadcast of the 1st leg delivered 1.236 million to make it the most0watched Liga MX final ever on the network. Univision’s broadcast of the 2nd leg delivered 2.8 million viewers to make it the most-viewed club soccer match on any network in 2017 thus far.
Also on Univision, Mexico’s first match of the summer attracted 1.45 million viewers with FOX Sports 1 providing an additional 134,000 for its English-language broadcast. Directly following the match Univision’s broadcast of the California Clásico drew 692,000 viewers to become the most-viewed MLS match since the 2016 MLS Cup final.
FOX’s coverage of the English FA Cup final was watched by 836,000 people, down 18% from 2016’s edition. While disappointing for FOX, it was still enough to make the Sounders-Timbers match following it the most viewed English-language Major League Soccer broadcast of 2017 at 472,000 viewers.
