Viewership of Premier League matches on NBC Sports in the United States is down 18.96%, according to a report.

For gameweek one through eleven of the 2016/17 Premier League season, the average viewership for a game on NBC Sports is 381,418 (for 67 matches in total). That compares to an average viewership of 470,681 for the first eleven gameweeks of the 2015/16 Premier League season on NBC Sports (after 69 matches).

The 18.96% drop in viewership is on par with the 19% decrease in viewership of Premier League matches on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.

The findings by @Spurs_US reveal that only one Premier League game this season has surpassed 1 million viewers (Man United vs. Hull, August 27, NBC). Meanwhile, the most-watched Premier League game on NBCSN so far this season was the Arsenal-Liverpool match on August 14 with 745,000 viewers.

The 19% decrease in viewership comes just days after it was revealed this week that NBCSN lost 705,000 subscribers from October to November, 2016.

The decrease in viewership can be blamed on several factors including the US Presidential election and cord cutting. World Soccer Talk discussed the subscriber drop at length on this week’s episode of the World Soccer Talk Podcast (as well as analyzing ESPN’s worst month in their history, and the highs and lows of the latest soccer TV ratings).
