Out of the international games being played during the past 10 days, which ones do you think were the most watched? According to our research as well as SportsTVRatings.com, the four most viewed matches were the four friendlies involving either the United States or Mexico. Mexico’s matches averaged 1.55 million viewers over the break while the United States averaged around half that at 779,000.
During the international break, beIN SPORTS aired at least part of all 10 matches of CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying live on TV, often jumping from the conclusion of one match right into the middle of another. Viewership peaked on the evening of October 6 with 420,000 viewers tuning into either Brazil vs Bolivia or Paraguay vs Colombia.
Most impressive of all for beIN SPORTS was the 301,000 who tuned in to watch Peru vs. Argentina on beIN SPORTS en Español plus the 111,000 viewers who tuned in to beIN SPORTS to watch the same game. In total, the game averaged 412,000 viewers.
beIN SPORTS also averaged 22,400 viewers for the five African World Cup Qualifying matches they aired over the weekend.
Coverage of UEFA World Cup Qualifying matches across the networks of ESPN, FOX Sports and Univision averaged 234,375 viewers per match window over the five day stretch from October 6th to October 11th. The highest viewership was attained on an NFL Sunday with 588,000 viewers spread across FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Deportes, UniMás, Univision Deportes and ESPN.
The National Women’s Soccer League Final was broadcast for the fourth consecutive year on national television and the second consecutive year on FOX Sports 1. The match averaged 180,000 viewers, up 7% from last year on FOX Sports 1 and 13% from 2014 on ESPN2.
