Milan (AFP) – Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah and Italian defender Daniele Rugani were added to the Juventus casualty list on Sunday after suffering knee injuries in a 1-0 win at Palermo.

Asamoah and Rugani are expected to be ruled out “for 45 days”, according to a short statement by the Italian champions and league leaders following tests at the J Medical centre Sunday.

“Asamoah has suffered a rupture of the medial meniscus ligament in his right knee, while Rugani has a strained collateral lateral ligament in his right knee,” said a club statement.

Asamoah is expected to “undergo keyhole surgery”, while Rugani is set for more “moderate treatment”, added the statement.

Their absences could prove a problem for Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is already without defender Medhi Benatia and midfielder Claudio Marchisio.

Juve’s win in Sicily on Saturday left them with a one-point lead on Napoli.

Juventus face Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian capital on Tuesday looking for their first win of the Champions League group stages after a scoreless draw with Sevilla in Turin two weeks ago.
