Saint-Étienne (France) (AFP) – Cristiano Ronaldo leads Portugal’s attack against minnows Iceland on Tuesday at Euro 2016 and could make history by becoming the first player to score at four European championship finals.

The Real Madrid ace is joined by former Manchester United teammate Nani up front as Iceland make their debut at the finals of a major tournament.

The one honour missing from Ronaldo’s trophy cabinet is a major international tournament win with Portugal having been part of the side which lost the Euro 2004 final, as hosts, against Greece.

However, the 31-year-old has usurped the likes of Luis Figo and Eusebio to be his country’s all-time top scorer with 56 goals in 125 caps.

Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson captains Iceland, but there is no place in the Scandinavians’ starting line-up for ex-Chelsea and Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The 37-year-old, who came of international retirement to play in France, starts on the bench at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard in Saint Etienne.
