The big Premier League match this weekend involves league leaders Manchester City in action against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (live on NBC at 12:30pm ET for viewers in the United States).

The Citizens have enjoyed a near perfect season so far and they are top of the table, level on points with Arsenal but have a better goal difference than the Gunners.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are unbeaten at home against the Reds since the 2008/09 season and will be looking to continue in that vein come Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from the 1-2 loss at home to Crystal Palace last time out which was the first league defeat of the Jurgen Klopp era.

The German manager was less than impressed with the some of the Liverpool supporters in that defeat after they left the stadium early following Palace’s 81st minute goal.

There must be a marked improvement from the Liverpool players in every area of the field if they hope to come out of this one with a morale-boosting result with a busy period of fixtures on the horizon.

KEY STAT – Manchester City have won 12 of the last 13 home matches.

Team News

The big news for Liverpool is that Daniel Sturridge is now available for selection after returning to full training recently. James Milner is also in contention to face his former club but Jon Flanagan, Jordan Henderson and Mamadou Sakho are sidelined.

For City, the game comes too soon for Sergio Aguero (hamstring) and David Silva (foot) but Vincent Kompany should be able to feature despite picking up a knock while on international duty. Samir Nasri is also reported to be out until February with a hamstring injury while Fabian Delph, Wilfried Bony and Pablo Zabaleta are all doubtful.
