Saturday night’s CONCACAF Cup game between USA vs. Mexico was viewed on average by an audience of 1.56 million people on FOX Sports 1.

While the viewing audience size didn’t beat the 5.1 million who watched the game on Univision, the number still was decent considering competition from baseball on a Saturday night.

To put the USA-Mexico game into context, 1.23 million people watched the USA-Jamaica Gold Cup semi-final on FOX Sports 1. And for the USA-Mexico friendly that was played in April, a viewing audience of 806,000 people watched that game on the same network.

The next game for the United States is tonight against Costa Rica, which will be shown live on ESPN, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network beginning at 6:30pm ET.

The CONCACAF CUP, the one-match winner-take-all playoff between rivals Mexico and the United States for a coveted spot in the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup and the biggest international soccer game on U.S. soil in 2015, is now the most-watched men’s soccer match ever on FS1.

The nail-biting contest, in which Mexico netted the winning goal with just two minutes remaining in extra time to beat the U.S., 3-2, set a new FS1 record for men’s soccer, and only three matches from the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup have recorded bigger soccer audiences on the channel. The audience peaked at 2,024,000 between 11:15 and 11:30 PM ET as the game rushed to its conclusion.

Approximately 79,000 unique viewers watched the match on FOX Sports GO, making it one of the 10 most-watched soccer matches ever on the app, surpassed only by select Women’s World Cup and UEFA Champions League matches.
