West Ham goalkeeper Adrian has signed a new two-year contract with the club. Adrian has committed to remaining in east London until 2017 while the Hammers have the option to extend the Spaniard’s stay by a further two years.

The 28-year-old moved to West Ham from Real Betis in June 2013 and has since cemented his place as the club’s first-choice stopper.

“This is a proud moment for myself, my family and friends and I am really happy to have signed my second contract with the club,” Adrian said.

“I feel really happy for the club and the fans. I never imagined this kind of relationship with the fans. I spent 16 years at Real Betis and it was difficult to leave your home. But from the moment I arrived in London the West Ham fans had a special relationship with me.

“For me this is a really good moment and I just want to enjoy it. This is my third season here and I want to stay here for a long time.”

West Ham have enjoyed a strong start to the season and currently sit third in the Barclays Premier League table ahead of Saturday’s visit to Sunderland.

The club are also set to move into the Olympic Stadium for the start of the 2016/17 campaign and Adrian admits their new home was a factor in his decision.

“Next season is really important for the club,” Adrian said.

“I have enjoyed playing at Upton Park and I want to enjoy playing in the new stadium.

“It is a big step for the club and I am really excited about this moment.”
