Sheffield Wednesday’s incessant recruitment drive has continued with the signing of Barry Bannan from Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a contract to keep him at Hillsborough until the end of the 2015-16 season and becomes the Owls’ 15th signing of the summer.

Bannan, whose career began at Aston Villa, has spent the last two seasons at Selhurst Park but has made just 27 appearances.

He follows Norwich’s Michael Turner and Watford pair Daniel Pudil and Fernando Forestieri through the door over the last five days.

The Scotland international wrote on his Twitter feed: “Glad to have joined @swfc on a permanent transfer today new start and glad to be going somewhere to play regular football and a fresh start.”
