Manchester United and Barcelona have reached a £22.3 million agreement over the transfer of Pedro, following negotiations held between officials from the two clubs on Tuesday.

The Spain international has yet to agree personal terms with United. However, the veteran player is keen to make the switch to Old Trafford where he is expected to lineup alongside Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay at the front of manager Louis van Gaal’s 4-3-3 formation.

The 28-year-old has become increasingly unsettled at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Luis Suarez and the subsequent lack of playing time he has received from manager Luis Enrique.

Even though Pedro recently signed an extension with the Catalan club, a clause was placed in his new deal which required the club to negotiate a transfer, provided the player’s £21 million valuation was met.

The Spain international had been concerned that a lack of playing time under Enrique would effect his chances of being included in La Roja’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2016.

While United and Barcelona have reached an agreement for Pedro, the forward will not arrive in England until after the completion of next week’s UEFA Super Cup.

Barcelona were reluctant to sign off on the player’s transfer with the match against last season’s Europa League winners, Sevilla, looming on August 11.

Lionel Messi and Neymar have only recently returned to training, and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique expects Pedro to play a significant role in the contest, which could see the Catalan club win its first major trophy of the new campaign.

Pedro will play his last home game at the Camp Nou today at 4pm ET when Barcelona takes on AS Roma in the 50th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy (live on NGSN for viewers in the USA).
