=1. Morgan Schneiderlin – Manchester United

For Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, Morgan Schneiderlin could be the most important acquisition in his tenure at Old Trafford. The former Southampton man represents tremendous value for money at £25 million and possesses all the attributes needed to tie things together at the heart of this Red Devils midfield.

Whether it’s tackling, passing, winning headers or carrying the ball forward, the Frenchman can do it all. During his time on the south coast he has developed into arguably the most complete central midfield player in the Premier League and can be the heartbeat of a Red Devils side which starts pushing for major honors once again.

=3. Yohan Cabaye – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has pulled off an extraordinary coup in bringing Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain to Selhurst Park. The Frenchman is a wonderful midfield player to watch, capable of operating in various roles and is someone that has flourished under the tutelage of the Eagles boss previously.

At times last season Palace thrilled us with their blistering counter attacks, but they were crying out for a player with the guile to unlock sides who won’t give them that luxury. Cabaye can add the spark this team needs, giving the Londoners’ attacking options an increasingly formidable feel. For Palace, it’s a major statement purchase.

=5. Toby Alderweireld – Tottenham

Despite a controversial tussle between Spurs and Saints to land Toby Alderweireld, the Belgian will join up with Mauricio Pochettino’s team at White Hart Lane next season, bringing plenty to a back four which looked a little ropey in the 2014-15 term.

The former Southampton man is the perfect defender for the Argentine’s high-octane style and having excelled with Saints on loan last season, is well acquainted with the Premier League. Expect Alderweireld to slot in nicely along compatriot Jan Vertonghen and forge some long overdue solid foundations at the base of this Spurs team.

=5. Bastian Schweinsteiger – Manchester United

Bastian Schweinsteiger is the most high profile player to join a Premier League side this summer and Manchester United supporters must be itching to get a look at the former Bayern Munich man at the heart of their midfield.

Although Schweinsteiger is a little past his peak and struggled for minutes recently due to a succession of injuries, at his best he remains a world-class performer; alongside Schneiderlin, the pair could assemble a stunning nexus for the Red Devils. His intangible attributes—a steely determination, winning mentality and incomparable experience—will also play a massive role at Old Trafford.

=5. Raheem Sterling – Manchester City

After weeks of unsavory stories, Raheem Sterling has finally completed his move from Liverpool to Manchester City for £49 million and it’s a deal which both teams will be delighted to have finalized.

It’s a lot of money, but Manuel Pellegrini has bought a player who will add a refreshed dimension to his side’s attack, someone who will afford City’s other world-class talents more space to operate in and a youngster who has the talent to become one of the very best in the game. If he sees out the duration of his five-year deal with the club, Sterling will be well worth the outlay.

=12. Georginio Wijnaldum – Newcastle United

After a desperate end to the 2014-15 season, Newcastle needed to bring in an exciting signing to get a disillusioned fanbase back on side. In Georginio Wijnaldum, the Magpies have certainly done that and new manager Steve McClaren deserves great credit for luring the Dutch international to St James’ Park.

While Memphis Depay was the man who scored the goals which pushed PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title last season, Wijnaldum was a driving force in the middle of the park. He’s technically gifted, energetic and has an eye for goal too; if he can settle at Newcastle, the Oranje star will be a major asset to the Toon Army and the Premier League.
