Major League Soccer jammed 16 games into Gameweek 17 partly because many MLS players will be joining up with their Gold Cup squads soon before the competition begins next week.
The reported attendances for Gameweek 17 are a prime example of the composite of the components that make up the numbers. Those include sold tickets, complimentary tickets and other giveaways. This was made very clear with the reports from the major rain dates, including Philadelphia, Dallas and Toronto.
That being said, the gate reports were fine, including some very good showings (real ones) at Yankee Stadium and Stanford Stadium, as well as Kansas City and Portland.
