The full 2015-16 Bundesliga schedule was released earlier today, with title holders Bayern Munich getting the season started off against Hamburg in the first matchup of the campaign on August 14th.

While the German champions will certainly be heavy favorites, there have been some interesting final scores in recent games versus “The Red Shorts.”  Over the last five matches in which Bayern played Hamburg at home, the German giants have racked up a cumulative score of 31-3.

Other intriguing meetings in week one of the Bundesliga season include: Borussia Dortmund vs. Borussia Monchengladbach (Thomas Tuchel’s first league match as manager of Dortmund), Werder Bremen vs. Schalke, and Bayer Leverkusen vs. TSG Hoffenheim.  Augsborg, perhaps the most surprising team in the German league last season, will also feature at home against Hertha Berlin.

Looking ahead to some important matches throughout the 2015-16 campaign, Bayern Munich face off against last season’s runners-up, Wolfsburg, on match day six (September 22nd or 23rd) and match day 23 (February 26th, 27th, or 28th).

Bayern also play Borussia Dortmund on match day eight (October 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) and match day 25 (March 4th, 5th, or 6th).  Bayern and Dortmund are the two most successful clubs in Germany.

The Ruhr derby, contested between bitter rivals Dortmund and Schalke, are set for match day 12 (November 6th, 7th, or 8th) and match day 29 (April 8th, 9th, or 10th).  The two clubs are located only about 20 miles apart from each other.
