Real Madrid host city rivals Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final match after playing out a 0-0 draw in the first leg last week.

The visitors come into the game as slight favorites given their dominance over the UEFA Champions League holders this season winning four and drawing three of their last seven meetings. They know that any type of win or a score draw will see them through to the next round.

A win will do it for Real, who are having to deal with injuries to a couple of key players ahead of this deciding fixture.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti knows his job could be on the line if Real Madrid fails to go through to the semi-finals despite winning four trophies for the club in 2014.

Nevertheless, the Italian boss suggested on Tuesday that his side will be conservative and patient in their approach to the game. “I don’t think Atletico will be in a rush to score and neither will we.”

Team News

Real Madrid are definitely going to be without former Tottenham duo of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric who picked up injuries in the 3-1 victory over Malaga which means that they may deploy a 4-4-2 formation on Wednesday as they did at the weekend.

Ancelotti will be hoping Fabio Coentrao will be fit enough to replace the suspended Marcelo at left-back, while Javier Hernandez may lead the attack in the absence of Karim Benzema.

For Atletico, the only injury worry is Mario Mandzukic who missed out last weekend with a knock but he should be fit enough to start today. The other missing player for the visitors is Mario Suarez who is suspended.
