Barcelona forward Neymar expects the upcoming El Clasico to be played like a final, and feels his team is strong enough to win the treble this season.

Barcelona are currently on top of La Liga after overcoming a four-point deficit in the standings to overtake Real Madrid. They also advanced to the Copa del Rey final – where they will meet Athletic Bilbao – and have one foot in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after defeating Manchester City in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie three weeks ago.

Speaking at the presentation of the 15th edition of the International Football Tournament, the Barcelona striker shared his thoughts on the approaching matchup with their bitter La Liga rivals, and on his team’s chances of winning the three remaining competitions on their schedule.

“El Clasico will be a final and we have to prepare as such,” Neymar told the gathering. “They are a very tough team but we only have to think about victory. he distance is not definitive, the season is very long and there are many games.

“We’ll have to play our game and focus on winning.”

“I think we have the team to think about winning the treble,” he continued.

We will give everything to win. I don’t want to choose one title, I want to win all three.”

The comparison between Barcelona’s attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar; and Real Madrid’s front three of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to be made over the course of the season. After sputtering at the start of the season, Barcelona’s attack has surpassed their Madrid rivals in recent weeks.

Neymar believes he and his teammates are the best attacking trio in Spain. However, the Brazilian stresses he is only focused on the goings on at his club, not on what is unfolding in the Spanish capital.

“I think so, but we do our own thing,” Neymar responded when asked if Barcelona’s front three were better than the BBC.

“We do not look a our opponents, we focus on moving forward with our games.”

While Real Madrid’s dressing room appears to be fractured, Barcelona have come together following a turbulent time in January – after their 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad.

Since that time, Barcelona have won fifteen of sixteen games in all competitions, while outscoring their opponents, 56-13; and they aren’t showing any signs slowing down.

“We are strong in the way we train and the relationship inside the dressing room has improved,” Neymar concluded. “Now the atmosphere in the squad is spectacular.”

“Every time we’re getting better and better and we will continue to be strong.”
