Arsenal will attempt to end a run on four successive round of 16 defeats when they play host to Monaco in the first leg of their knockout tie on Wednesday (at 2:45pm ET on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2GO for viewers in the United States).

The Gunners finished second in Group D, level on points with leaders Borussia Dortmund albeit with an inferior goal difference while Monaco topped Group C with 11 points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit St Petersburg and Benfica.

Arsene Wenger knows his side need to be at the clinical best if they are to get the better of Monaco who boast the stingiest defense in the Champions League with just one goal conceded in the six group matches.

The worry for the French side however, is in the attack where they managed just four goals in six matches. They certainly will need to improve on their 0.66 goals per game ratio if they are to stand a chance against a rejuvenated Arsenal side.

Wenger is still without long-term absentees Mathieu Debuchy, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey while Abou Diaby and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are major doubts.

As for Monaco, Coach Leonardo Jardim is facing a selection headache as Andrea Raggi, Lacina Traore, Ricardo Carvalho and Tiemoue Bakayoko all miss out due to various injuries and Jeremy Toulalan is suspended. Left-back Layvin Kurzawa and winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco will face late fitness tests to ascertain their availability.
