Former Liverpool strikers Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez have been tipped to return to Anfield next month to feature in Steven Gerrard’s scheduled testimonial according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Torres in particular, enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Gerrard in his Liverpool days before his £50million transfer to Chelsea, a move that was said to have broken Gerrard’s heart.

Suarez, who had a multitude of indiscretions whilst playing for Liverpool, was an integral part of Liverpool’s title tilt last season that agonisingly fell short as Gerrard chased his maiden Premier League success.

The duo are to be joined by some other ex-Reds including Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, Javier Mascherano who, according to the paper, have all been contacted by Gerrard himself.

The one-off friendly match will take place on March 29 during the international break as fans, teammates and admirers celebrate the 34-year-old’s career-long commitment to the club ahead of a move to LA Galaxy at the end of the current campaign.
