Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to be dropped from this weekend’s starting eleven against Deportivo La Coruna.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has been training with Keylor Navas in front of goal this week, and it’s clear that the Costa Rican international is tipped to start at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Navas last league start was in November against Rayo Vallecano. Since then, the goalkeeper has played in just two Copa del Rey matches and two Champions League ties.

Casillas has started 20 of 22 La Liga matches for Real Madrid this season, and was arguably at fault for the Atletico Madrid’s first goal during last weekend’s derby – Los Blancos would go on to lose the match 4-0 to their cross-city rivals.

Carlo Ancelotti apparently feels that now is the time to give his 33-year-old team captain a break from his match day duties and give his number two a chance.

Programming note: Real Madrid vs. Deportivo La Coruna will be shown LIVE on Saturday starting at 11:55am EST on beIN SPORTS and DishWorld.
