Chelsea beat Everton 1-0 on Wednesday to maintain a seven-point lead at the top of the table. Here are our player ratings from the match.

Chelsea

Petr Cech – 8/10

Was a calming influence and made two spectacular saves – one in each half – from Romelu Lukaku to prevent his side from falling behind.

Branislav Ivanovic – 7/10

Went about his duties as usual. His attacking play was more pronounced though.

Kurt Zouma – 8/10

Impressed again at center-back and he has surely staked a solid claim on that position. Made a number of interceptions and coped very well with the threat of Romelu Lukaku.

John Terry – 7/10

Did his job well but was caught out a couple of times.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10

Wasn’t troubled too much defensively but he still performed well to deal with the threat of Aaron Lennon.

Nemanja Matic – 9/10

Was completely dominant in midfield and won most of the duels he contested. Made a number of key tackles to break up Everton’s attacking play and contributed to his side’s forward play as well. Man of the match.

Ramires – 7/10

Alongside Nemanja Matic, Ramires played very well and provided adequate cover for his centre backs. Was fouled a couple of times.

Willian – 8/10

He was industrious and never stopped running through the match until he was substituted. Scored a fantastic half-volley late on to cap a wonderful day for the Brazilian and give Chelsea a crucial three points.

Cuadrado – 7/10

On his first start for Chelsea, the Colombian midfielder showed what he can offer the team upfront. Faded in the second half and was substituted for Cesc Fabregas. The early signs are good.

Eden Hazard – 7/10

Was not at his magical best but caused the Toffees a lot of problems on the left flank.

Loic Remy – 5/10.

Never came close to scoring.

Substitutes

Cesc Fabregas – 5/10

Came on for the last 20 minutes and completed some passes. Was booked also.

Didier Drogba – 5/10

Had little impact after his introduction in the 70th minute.

Gary Gahill – N/A

Came on in the 92nd minute and did nothing.

Everton

Tim Howard – 8/10

Kept his side in the match by making a string of impressive saves. Didn’t deserve to lose.

Seamus Coleman – 6/10

Booked for a foul on Eden Hazard and struggled with the Belgian’s pace but had a good showing overall

Phil Jagielka – 7/10

Very solid performance from Jagielka who organized his defense well to keep Chelsea’s attackers at bay for most of the match.

John Stones – 8/10

A rock at the back for Roberto Martinez’s men and hardly put a foot wrong through the game.

Bryan Oviedo – 7/10

An able replacement for Leighton Baines and performed admirably on the left flank.

Muhamed Besic – 3/10

The flop of the match. Was substituted at halftime.

Gareth Barry – 5/10

Did well in midfield until his sending off late in the game prompting Chelsea to take immediate advantage.

Aaron Lennon – 5/10

Average performance from the Englishman on his full debut and did nothing worthy of note.

Ross Barkley – 6/10

One of his sides’ better performers and created some chances for Lukaku.

Steven Naismith – 5/10

Poor performance in the first half but improved after the break.

Romelu Lukaku – 6/10

Offered a real goalscoring threat for Everton but missed a great chance to put his side 1-0 up in the second half.

Substitutes

James McCarthy – 5/10

Came on for Besic and performed much better than the Serbian.

Darren Gibson – N/A

Replaced Lennon and covered a couple of metres.

Kevin Mirallas – N/A

Didn’t see enough of the ball to make an impression.
