Chelsea has officially finalized the signing of Fiorentina and Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado for a fee of £26.8million, making him the top transfer signing of the January Transfer Deadline Day.

The deal for Cuadrado took longer than expected due to the complicated moves of Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg and Mohamed Salah to Fiorentina.

Cuadrado arrived in London on Saturday to complete a medical, and attended the Chelsea-Manchester City match at Stamford Bridge after the 1-1 draw.

Upon signing, he said: ‘I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given. This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I’m happy.’

Cuadrado plays predominantly behind a striker, but he is also comfortable on either flank. Pacy and agile, he is a purposeful attacking threat with an eye for the spectacular.
