Chelsea currently sit top of the Premier League table with 39 points after sixteen matches. The London club has also advanced to the semi-final of the Capital One Cup after a 3-1 victory over Derby County yesterday, and are through to the Champions League Round of 16; where a two-legged tie against Paris Saint-Germain awaits them in February.

During an interview with talkSPORT this morning, manager Jose Mourinho was asked if he was planning on adding reinforcements to his bolster his squad during the upcoming January transfer window.

The Portuguese boss stated that Chelsea’s business in the market was done and there would be no arrivals to Stamford Bridge after the New Year.

Mourinho signed off on a number of the quality transfers this summer including: Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and also recalled Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

The Chelsea manager told the English radio show that he has everything in place in order to accomplish his goals at the club this season.

“We have a very short squad but we’ve got good players, some younger, some older, but the squad is very, very good,” Mourinho told talkSPORT.

“Our project is to start and finish the season with the same group of players so there will be nobody to leave and nobody to come in either.”

The manager also gave an update on the injury suffered by centre-back Kurt Zouma during yesterday’s quarter-final match at Derby.

The young French defender was inadvertently punched in the mouth by Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech during a corner-kick. The blow flattened Zouma and he appeared to be going in and out of consciousness while the Blues medical staff worked on him.

“When I saw Zouma was down, I was scared because we can’t lose any players and certainly not for long periods of time,” Mourinho confessed.

“When John Terry signaled that we needed to change I thought we might be in trouble, but no, happily for us and for the kid, we weren’t.”

“He’s fine, he took a punch from Petr [Cech] and had a cut inside his mouth, so taking him off was just a precaution. He was fine in the dressing room after.”

Chelsea’s next match will be on Monday when they travel to the Britannia to take on Stoke City.
