Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov has been sidelined for up to one month with an injured calf. The 28-year-old suffered the problem during the warm-up prior to Sunday’s Manchester derby. Gael Clichy replaced the Serbian international in the Citizen’s starting eleven against city-rivals Manchester United.

“Kolarov has a muscle injury in his calf,” manager Manuel Pellegrini said. “He will be out for at least one month.”

The City boss followed that comment up by clarifying that those were his words, not those of the doctor.

“Well, I am not a doctor, but I suppose that.”

Kolarov has been ruled out of City’s upcoming Champions League group stage encounter with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. He is also set to miss out on their Group E match with Bayern Munich on Matchday Five, as well as Premier League games against QPR, Swansea City and Southampton later this month.
