Sunday’s game between Manchester United and Chelsea set a NBC record for the most-viewed Premier League match across NBC Sports since the broadcaster began televising the Premier League in 2013.

The game was viewed by an average audience of 1.29 million people, which was greater than the previous record set on February 8 when 1.24 million watched Cardiff vs Swansea.

With 1.29 million viewers, Sunday’s Man United/Chelsea Premier League match (12-2:12P) delivered NBC’s most watched Premier League telecast to-date, ahead of Cardiff/Swansea on 2/8/14 (1.24 million).

The Manchester United-Chelsea game was televised live on NBC, with the game kicking off at Noon ET.

While the 1.29 million number is impressive, it failed to beat the best-ever Premier League viewing audience on US television, which was the Chelsea-Liverpool game shown on tape delay on FOX in October 2011 that had 1.67 million viewers.

Meanwhile, NBC’s broadcast of Saturday’s Seattle Sounders versus LA Galaxy game was watched by an average of 699,000 viewers. The broadcast for that game began at 2:30pm ET after the Swansea-Leicester game.
