Last summer Juventus decided to keep hold of Arturo Vidal, despite rumors of a big-money offer from Manchester United.

During last transfer market, Juventus Director General and Sport Department CEO, Giuseppe Marotta stood firm and claimed that the player never had any intention of leaving the Italian giants.

It is understood the Chile international never asked to leave and thus Juventus didn’t let him go.

With Italian and English press repeatedly reporting that the Red Devils had table bids of between  €60m and €40m, plus add-ons like Javier Hernandez, it came to nothing as Vidal remained with the club.

However, it looks like the picture has changed.

Following knee surgery prior to the World Cup, and the immense risk he took to play in the tournament, his fitness is not at the same level that it has been for the past three years.

Vidal is a special player, who is combative and a goalscoring midfielder, having notched 42 goals in 127 matches in a Bianconeri shirt.

Having started the season with injury problems, manager Massimiliano Allegri is gradually reintegrating him back into the squad.

Roberto Pereyra, who is covering for the former Bayern Leverkusen player in midfield, is doing a fine job and Vidal may find it hard to regain his spot in the starting XI.

Juventus  will wait patiently for a player of his calibre to recovery, but news this week has thrown his position at the club in doubt.

The night after Juventus were defeated against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Vidal was caught partying in the streets of Turin at 5am in the morning. There are also claims that he was embroiled in an altercation with some people outside a nightclub.

Days later and Vidal arrive at training late, much to the dismay of Allegri and the club, who slapped the player with a hefty fine of €100,000 and excluded the player from Juventus’ starting XI against AS Roma.

As a result of these occurrences it has led Italian media outlets to report that Juventus may have lost patience with the midfielder, who is believed to be quite familiar with the partying scene.

The sizeable fine is apparently a total of all the times that the club has turned a blind eye to his indiscretions.

The most important thing is seeing Vidal back on the pitch, however, there’s no guarantee it will be with Juventus next season.

With Manchester United interested in his services, Juventus may be willing to listen to an offer, but negotiations must start at €45m for a player who is considered one of world football’s best midfielders.

It’s an intriguing situation – watch this space.
