Jose Mourinho will be hoping that his charges can maintain their incredible run of form against Schalke on Wednesday evening having enjoyed a blistering start to the season.

The Londoners have four wins from four matches to their name in the Premier League, establishing themselves as the favourites to take home the domestic title. In addition, their imperious form sees them touted as one of the main contenders to take home European glory, and can boast a line-up which , on paper at least, has the ability to beat any side.

Key to Chelsea’s faultless start has been the exploits of Diego Costa who, since his move from Atletico to Stamford Bridge, has yet to put a foot wrong.

The Spanish international has scored seven goals in the side’s opening four matches, culminating in a hat-trick in their 4-2 win over Swansea on Saturday.

However, Costa is not the only newcomer who has shone early on. Compatriot Cesc Fabregas is starting to show the form that made him one of the greatest midfield talents back at Arsenal, and already has six assists to his name in four appearances.

Nemanja Matic too has been solid in the holding midfield position whilst Eden Hazard continues to provide support to Costa upfront and add additional attacking flair to Chelsea’s already flamboyant offence.

The same, though, cannot be said about Jens Keller’s Schalke side, with the coach finding himself under the pump after a disastrous start to the German domestic season.

The Royal Blues have only managed to amass a solitary point in their opening three Bundesliga, having lost to both Hannover and Borussia Monchengladbach before securing a draw against Bayern Munich. They have since also crashed out from the DFB-Pokal after a 4-1 loss to Dynamo Dresden.

Adding to their woes is the fact that Keller finds himself with an injury ravaged side with the likes of Felipe Santana (adductor), Joel Matip (adductor) and Jan Kirchoff all expected to miss their opening European clash.

Meanwhile, both Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Julian Draxler are not yet 100% fit and will not play a big part in their fixture against Chelsea.

Possible line-ups

Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic, Luis; Ramires, Matic, Fabregas; Willian, Hazard, Costa

Schalke: Fährmann, Clemems, Ayan, Höwedes, Aogo, Neustädter, Boateng, Draxler, Huntelaar, Sam, Choupo-Moting

Prediction:

Chelsea 3-0 Schalke
