Liverpool has agreed a £12million fee with Sevilla for left-back Alberto Moreno. The agreement should now bring an end to the transfer saga that has taken up most of the summer window.

The Spain international will become Brendan Rodgers eighth signing of the summer and should provide competition at left-back to fellow-Spaniard, Jose Enrique.

Moreno was withdrawn from the Sevilla side that faced Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup tonight, despite manager Unai Emery insisting the defender would play during the build-up of the match.

The 22-year-old came through Sevilla youth system and has made 45 career starts with the senior side since 2012.

His arrival at Anfield has triggered the departure of Liverpool defender Martin Kelly.

The BBC is reporting that the 24-year-old England international will have a medical with Crystal Palace in the next 24 hours, as the two Premier League clubs have agreed on an initial fee of £1.5million, rising to £2million.

Kelly has made more than 30 appearances for Liverpool since making his first-team debut in 2007.
