The traditional start of the 2014/15 top flight English football season kicks off today with the winners of the 2013/14 Premier League (Manchester City) playing the winners of the 2013/14 FA Cup (Arsenal) to determine who will be crowned winners of the annual FA Community Shield.

The game today gives Arsenal another chance to win a piece of silverware, which would make it two within the space of six months. For City, this is an opportunity for the blue half of Manchester to position themselves as the team to beat this season after winning their second Premier League title in a few short years.

For viewers in the United States, coverage of the 2014 FA Community Shield begins at 9.30am ET on FOX Sports 1, with a scheduled 10am ET kick-off. For viewers in the United Kingdom, the match will be shown live on BT Sport.

Today marks the first time that vanishing spray will be used by match officials in the FA Community Shield.
