Seattle Sounders and US World Cup star DeAndre Yedlin is on the verge of signing with Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that’s reportedly worth $3.3 million, according to Goal.com.

Sounders coach Sigi Schmid confirmed today that Yedlin is currently in Europe, where he was reported to be preparing for a medical. It’s understood that Yedlin has not yet completed his physical for Spurs, and the deal to make the American a Tottenham Hotspur footballer is still being ironed out.

If and when the deal is completed to make Yedlin a Tottenham Hotspur footballer, it’s expected that the right winger (who can also play as a right back) will return to MLS to complete the season on a loan deal, and then return to England later this year to train with the Lilywhites.

In addition to Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma was reported to be interested in signing the American 21-year-old who featured in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday night against Bayern Munich.

However, former Spurs goalkeeper (and now ESPN pundit) Kasey Keller is reluctant to get excited about Yedlin moving to Spurs:

“Spurs is a tricky place to play,” Keller said. “They’re a team that has a lot of turnover in players. Spurs are a team that has the money, and they are always looking for a bargain, but it’s a tough place to go. I just want to see young American players play regularly, week in and week out. If that’s at Tottenham, great. But if it’s not, then it’s not the right move. It’s hard to develop if you don’t play. I’m not sure DeAndre would even qualify for a work permit. He’s never started a game for the national team, [England] is a tough place to get a work permit. My guess would be that if Tottenham is in the race, it would be to sign DeAndre and loan him out somewhere.”
