Southampton Duo Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin to Join Tottenham

Southampton footballers Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are both set to join Tottenham Hotspur, the BBC has reported today.

Southampton are experiencing an exodus this summer with Rickie LambertAdam Lallana and Dejan Lovren to Liverpool, and Luke Shaw to Manchester United, as well as Calum Chambers to Arsenal — all leaving for teams sitting above them in the table.

Now it seems that two more first team regulars are set to depart St Mary’s to rejoin former Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.

Though Southampton managed to adequately replace Pochettino with experienced Dutchman Ronald Koeman, Southampton has failed to hold onto many of their first team players that were crucial to their successful Premier League performance last year.

Though figures haven’t been released, it is believed that a fee of £25million would see Southampton willing to part with Schneiderlin. The 25 year old Frenchman has had a break out season, being linked to many top clubs and making his debut for the French national side.

Jay Rodriguez has also enjoyed a successful season at St Mary’s. Though an injury kept him out of the England World Cup squad, he made his international debut last season in the process of scoring 15 goals for the Saints.

Whilst many players have been departing St Mary’s, there has been little positive transfer activity for Southampton, with no new signings thought to be imminent.

  1. I’ve already got £50 at 12-1 on Saints to go down, I’ve had another £25 at 11-2 today.

Koeman will have done well to mould ateam to

  2. Southampton is just rolling in the dough. Guess the ownership will just pocket it, drop down two divisions, focus on their academy, and repeat the process.

They have produced Bale, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana and more. Now they have sold more than half their starters, let their manager go. Not that they were ever going to be champions of Europe or anything, but it just seems like they’ve resigned themselves to be a feeder club and make money that way.

  3. Unbelievable! How long before Koeman resigns? He cannot have signed up for this. I know they have a conveyor belt of talent but this fire sale will surely see them relegated. Saints fans must be gutted at the raiding of their club’s prized assets. And no sign of any activity on the buy side either. Even Adidas bailed on them! Someone turn the lights out before they leave.

Saints line up for their first EPL game of the season.
