Real Madrid have boarded a flight to the United States to start the second stage of its preseason.

Here are the 20 players that manager Carlo Ancelotti has taken with him on the trip to America:

Goalkeepers: Diego López, Jesús and Pacheco

Defenders: Pepe, Carvajal, Coentrão, Arbeloa, Nacho, Diego Llorente and Derik

Midfielders: Bale, Xabi Alonso, Isco, Illarra, Marcos Llorente, Medrán, Lucas and Mascarell

Forwards: Sobrino and De Tomás

Additional players may be announced after they’ve recovered from their World Cup break.

In the case of the club’s top goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, the manager has made a decision to give the Portuguese international extra time to relax and recover from a long season. Ronaldo was visibly less than 100% towards the end of the season and most recently during his home country’s World Cup campaign.

The expectation is that the two-time Ballon d’Or winner will not be named for any of Real Madrid’s fixtures in the International Champions Cup.

Also, the ten-time champions of Europe will be without the services of Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria and the club’s newest signing, Toni Kroos. All three have been given extra time off to recover from their domestic and international duties.

And finally, Jesé Rodríguez is still recovering from an injury and will miss the preseason tour.

With the announcement of James Rodriguez transfer from AS Monaco in the next few days, speculation in the Spanish press is that the Golden Boot winner may make his Real Madrid debut in the United States, should the club reach the final of the International Champions Cup in Miami on August 4.
