Premier League new boys Leicester have released their new home shirt. The kit is in the club’s traditional ‘reflex’ blue with white shorts and blue socks.
Made by Puma, the shirt takes on a new feature for Leicester City, with gold flairs on the sleeves of the shirt and on the Puma logo. Traditionally the shirt has stuck with the blue and white theme of the rest of the kit, with yellows and golds being reserved for away and alternative strips.
The kit and stadium sponsor, Thai casino King Power, has its on the center of the shirt, and blends well with the stand up collar on the shirt, which resembles a Mandarin style collar. With the triple button look, it follows in the trend of other kits that have been announced in a slightly retro theme.
However, this retro collar is juxtaposed with Puma’s dynamic, slim fitting design. Though not as tight fitting as Arsenal’s Puma jerseys, the kit’s tight fit is part of technology that is supposed to help blood flow and curtail the occurrence of stress injuries.
The kit blends traditional ideas in the blue and white with forward thinking slim fits and spots of gold, which is representative of the club’s position at the moment. Entering the Premier League for the first time after a 10 year absence, Leicester have had a torrid time this century – entering administration in 2002 due to financial difficulties and having a host of managers, even after the takeover of Thai investors in 2010. However, it appears the club has finally got itself back on track with their Premier League return, and the kit is perhaps reflective of a new beginning for the club.
