Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign French midfielder Remy Cabella in a deal that’s worth £12million, according to a report in France.

Cabella currently plays for Montpellier in Ligue Un. The 24-year-old is an attacking midfielder who is described as a fast, agile and creative footballer who can play on the wing or behind a striker.

Montpellier President Laurent Nicollin says that an agreement between the two clubs has been finalized.

However, the player still has to complete a medical and agree to personal terms before Remy Cabella can officially become a Newcastle United footballer.

If and when the deal for Cabella is completed, this will most probably clear the way for Mathiey Debuchy to move from Newcastle United to Arsenal.

Last week, Newcastle United announced the signing of striker Siem de Jong.
