Netherlands captain Robin van Persie is a doubt for Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina after missing training due to stomach and intestinal issues.

During a press conference today, Dutch Head Coach Louis Van Gaal said that he decided not to risk Van Persie in training today after the striker complained of gastrointestinal issues.

Van Gaal says he’ll make a decision tomorrow whether to play his captain in the World Cup semi-final against Argentina, adding “Van Persie is a very important player for us. In principle, my captain always plays, but he has to be fit.”

Meanwhile, Ron Vlaar and Nigel De Jong are doubts for the game due to injuries. However, De Jong is making good progress and may be ready to return to action sooner than anticipated.
