Southampton’s Dejan Lovren has expressed interest in leaving St. Mary’s, stating that Liverpool has made an offer on the centre back for £20 million and admitted that his head, “is already at Anfield,” as told to Croatian website Sportske novosti. Lovren is looking for a move before the beginning of the 2014-2015 season despite only being in the Premier League for one season.

Lovren said he did not hear about the offer from the offices at Southampton but instead from other people, helping make his decision to want to leave, “Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven’t informed me. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realized I’ve got no business staying at Southampton.”

Southampton appears uninterested in letting Lovren go, “[The offer] was in the morning and by the afternoon the club had said I was not for sale,” only finishing eight in the Premiere League last season.

Joining Southampton on a four year deal and £9 million in 2013 from Lyon where he played for the previous three years, Lovren  had a successful 2013-14 season with the Saints. Lovren made 31 appearances scoring two goals, including one against Liverpool. He was named to Bloomberg Sports’ Power 50 list after his first season as the fifth highest ranked player in the Premier League with the 31st position overall.

Making his debut for the Croatian U-17 team in 2004, Lovren has scored two goals in 28 appearances for the senior team including representing Croatia in his first World Cup in Brazil. Lovren has only scored one goal for the senior team, against Wales during qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

Liverpool’s manager, Brendan Rogers, has also signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton as well. Rogers is seemingly looking to add talent to the Reds who missed out the Premier League title by two points.  Liverpool could continue to spend big if the deal to sell of Luis Suarez to F.C. Barcelona goes through.
