Netherlands qualified for the World Cup semi-final after defeating Costa Rica on penalty kicks.

During the match, Wesley Sneijder hit the woodwork twice, but the Dutch were unable to score against a Costa Rica side who continued to play a high line and catch Netherlands in countless offside traps.

In regulation time, the match ended nil-nil. The game went to 30 minutes of extra time, where the scoreline remained 0-0, and so it went to penalties.

Tim Krul saved two penalty kicks to secure a place in the semi-final. On Wednesday, they’ll face Argentina — for a rematch of the 1978 World Cup Final.
