Where To Watch World Cup Games In Washington, DC

Bar Soccer Sports 600x399 Where To Watch World Cup Games In Washington, DC

If you find yourself in the DC area while the World Cup progresses, here are three suggested spots for you to check out the games and grab a bite to eat:

1. TD Burger

Located in the quiet, up-and-coming NoMa neighborhood, this is the second location that has opened in Washington DC.  TD Burger has great burgers as well as pizza and other good cuisine to satiate a footy fan during the World Cup. If you go, I recommend the Loree Bleu Burger.

Boasting 5 screens and ample sitting room, TD Burger has World Cup specials during happy hour such as $5 burgers and $3 beers.

They will also have live entertainment after the games during the week, but check ahead of time before arriving.

Although no contests are planned, owner Timothy Dean expects a large crowd to come in for the US vs Ghana game on Monday.

TD Burger is predicting Brazil will win the Cup.

2. Fado Irish Pub

If you’re in Chinatown, you’ll find two great Irish pubs in the middle of it all and both are Metro-accessible (I strongly advise against driving in DC).

Fado Irish Pub boasts 11 HDTV screens and large projector TV screens. During the course of the season, Fado has supporters from Everton, Real Madrid, and Chelsea that frequent this place. World Cup specials on offer include $5 Budweisers, $5 Absolut Crush, and a matchday meal (which includes a beer and appetizer or sandwich; prices vary).

In regards to contests and giveaways, they have a signed Lionel Messi picture up for grabs, a front row table for the World Cup final, an official US scarf and they also have the million-dollar bracket.

Fado is calling for Germany to win it all.. Or the US, if they can get out of the group!

3. The Irish Channel Pub

The Irish Channel Pub is a great spot that comes highly recommended. The pub is located approximately 3 blocks east of Fado. Boasting nine 55″ HDTV screens, this pub is the home of the DC Spurs Tottenham supporters group.  The specials on offer during the World Cup are a bucket of beer with either 6 Bud Lites or Miller Lites for $22, Stoli beer for $5.50, Capoano Tequila shots at $5, and assorted cocktails. They also offer food specials where you can get a 2 topping pizza for $9.

The Irish Channel Pub will be holding a few contests including the chance to win tickets to Manchester United vs. Inter Milan game being held here in DC that will be given away close to the end of the World Cup Final. There will also be T-shirt and other swag.

If you make it there on the right day, ask Gerry to make you a Guinness shake!

The Irish Channel is predicting Germany or Argentina to win it all.

You mention Fado, but no Lucky Bar?

i was going to get them next go ’round especially since that is one place I frequent during the season

And truth be told, the other places I mentioned are really good if you are passing thru and you want to be able to find a place to sit comfortably and watch the match. Lucky bar, while popular, yesterday was jam packed with zero sitting room and one could barely hear the game. But hey, its depending on what u like!!!
