As part of World Soccer Talk’s participation in the bwin World Cup Blogger’s League, today we look at the England v Italy game, predict the World Cup winner and make a Golden boot prediction. Make sure to share your own tips with us on Twitter and help us win the league!

Wayne Rooney to Score First Goal for England v Italy (6.50)

England start their World Cup campaign as they take on the 2006 winners on Saturday at Arena Amazônia, Manaus. Rooney has never scored a goal for his country on the biggest stage and the Manchester United star is likely to open his account by scoring the first goal against Italy.

Speed will be England’s friend, so don’t rule out Rooney’s club teammate Danny Welbeck to open the scoring. The United forward is priced at 10.0 to open the scoring for Hodgson’s side against Italy.

England would be hoping to start the World Cup on a brighter note with a win. The Three Lions are at 2.85 to win the game on Saturday.

Netherlands to win the World Cup and Robin van Persie to win the Golden Boot (26.00)

Ok, so this is a bit left-field and based solely on Netherlands’ mauling of Spain last night. The 5-1 scoreline reflected a gap in confidence at the end of game, not so much in ability or performances. However, momentum is key and there’s no doubt that Netherlands, having won their toughest group game, will now most likely win the group.

Masterminded by Louis van Gaal and led from the front by Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben, Netherlands have a fair shot at winning the World Cup this summer. Both RvP and Robben would be considered outside contenders for the Golden Boot award but with easier games to come in their group, expect both players to score in the group stages.

And both are capable of scoring key goals when their teams need them.

We’re backing RvP to lead Netherlands to the World Cup title along with a Golden Boot haul of his own. It’s an outside bet, but at 26.00 it’s too good to miss out after last night.

Argentina to win World Cup / Lionel Messi to win Golden Boot (17.0)

With Argentina yet to play, you may want to wait and see how they (and Messi) do in their first game before betting on World Cup and Golden Boot winners.

Neymar may be the ‘golden boy’ of the tournament but Messi (and Ronaldo) are the two best players, and Argentina are expected to go far into the tournament and are rated as more likely winners than Brazil (referees notwithstanding).

Can Messi be top scorer and lead his team to World Cup glory? The Argentina / Messi double is priced at 17.0 – and is still a good price to back – although you may want to wait till their first game.
