  1. San Fransiscan says:

Big day today. First derby in a UCL final. Arda Turan not playing can be a huge factor for Real Madrid.

Good luck to Atletico. Hear that Fox? it’s Atletico, not Athletico.

  2. jtm371 says:

listen to talksport and sync your video to it. no gus today :)

  3. Abdirahman says:

Martin tyler and gary neville. Special commentry team in special match!

  4. San Fransiscan says:

First words come out of FOX. Home of the UEFA final. Shows how much they know about this game.

    • Jake says:

I’m appalled that you thought they knew anything about the game at all besides the fact that it makes them a truckload of money.

  5. Flyvanescence says:

    Wildwings may have them muted.

  6. Proud Eurosnob says:

I was questioning my switch to UVerse from DirecTV, but I don’t regret it now since Fox Deportes is in HD on UVerse and I can avoid Aneurysm Gus!

  7. Smokey Bacon says:

The fox Pregame show is just adverts separated by 10 seconds of Rob stone.

  8. jtm371 says:

RM3/AM1 CR with 2 goals and Bale with 1.

  9. Christopher Harris says:

Martin Tyler and Gary Neville on the Sky Sports commentary feed.

  10. jtm371 says:

was it worth 9 minutes to lose a substitution.

    • KapUSMC says:

Given the circumstances… I think he so. They have had an unbelievable season, and he is obviously as huge part of it. And given the wacky world of the transfer season and the clubs finances, this may be the last time in a Atleti shirt.

      • jtm371 says:

agree to disagree. your their to win not just make DC feel good because he got in the match.

        • KapUSMC says:

I agree with that sentiment, but I also think clubs the size of Atleti have to take into account the way they treat players to “get the next guy in”. I think this is in the same vein as why BVB did the send off for Lewandowski.

  11. Christopher Harris says:

Looks like Diego Costa may have played his last match for Atleti.

  12. LaticsFan says:

Do they pair Gus with Wynalda so Gus sounds better by comparison?

Can’t believe Wynalda is trying to claim that substitution was scripted, like you would design a tactic that uses one of your 3 subs after 10 minutes.

  13. Tony says:

I would like to congratulate fox for once again ruining my enjoyment of a game by putting on Gus Johnson as the commentator . What a load of c–p .

  14. Smokey Bacon says:

Gus has used up all the stats on his sheet and we are only 20 minutes in. Second time he’s informed me it’s an all Spanish final. No sh*t Sherlock.

  15. Smokey Bacon says:

I can say with absolute certainty that Martin Tyler has never used the world feline to describe what he was seeing on the pitch. Gus has no clue what he’s watching. It’s not right.

  16. Bo says:

Why don’t they just give us SAP for 2nd commentary?

  17. jtm371 says:

that might comeback to haunt Bale bad miss.

  18. Flyvanescence says:

Commentary on at Wildwings. Gus not so bad although hes messed up a couple names. Wynalda knows his football but is a terrible announcer. Hes shockingly poor.

    • Smokey Bacon says:

Wynalda knows his football? Seriously? He is lazy and unprepared as usual.

      • Flyvanescence says:

I didnt mean his analysis is good here. Its awful. Hes a terrible analyst.

What im saying is he knows football, evidenced by the fact hes a great coach and his opinions on American soccer are spot on.

        • Smokey Bacon says:

I’ve seen and heard enough of Wynalda to seriously question if he knows anything about football. He is shocking for somebody who played the game.

  19. jtm371 says:

Maybe that is why IC has been sitting on the bench.WOW what a gaff.

    • Flyvanescence says:

That is actually the first mistake i have EVER seen Casillas make. I think he has been on the bench because Lopez has been unbenchable.

Over the course of his career Casillas has put on a clinic on playing the position of goalkeeper. Maybe not the absolute best shot stopper (that was Buffon) but he was always in the right position, making the right decision and organizing his defence superbly. I was shocked to see him make that error because it is completely unlike him.

  20. Tony Butterworth says:

Clearly Gus did not know if that was a goal or not.

  21. Smokey Bacon says:

    Aaaaaaaaaaaand……………….GOAL…………….GO-DEE………..36th minute……………………

  22. KapUSMC says:

Didn’t they say during the Barca match that Atleti haven’t lost all year when they scored?

  23. jtm371 says:

CA job in trouble if RM don’t comeback?

    • Smokey Bacon says:

Benzema is not good enough to get around that defense. Expect Real will make a massive bid for Suarez in the summer if they go down here.

  24. Todd says:

Reading some of these comments makes me want to unmute the match just for the unintentional comedy.

  25. tobyjim says:

Well boy am I excited now if Gus is shouting. I’m so glad Fox has him to help me understand my soccer emotions. And he’s been very helpful telling me the distance between Mardid and Lisbon. And that Madrid has two teams – one in white and one in red and white stripes. Thanks Fox. Thanks Gus.

  26. Bo says:

Wish I was in Lisbon tonight. :(

  27. Smokey Bacon says:

Gus Johnson offers nothing as a match announcer other than name checks, time checks and shouting whenever the ball is in the penalty area. Other than that it’s mostly dead air. He has absolutely no clue what he is watching.

    • KapUSMC says:

I would be hard pressed to say he has been good or even average… But I will say he is much better than he used to be (either that, or I’m just being beat into submission by hearing him so often).

      • Smokey Bacon says:

It’s beyond belief. His delivery is tedious. He almost so sounds bored or disinterested. Like he realizes he’s out of his depth.

Today’s attendance is 69,696BALE!!!!!!! Just now. Who does that? He has no timing whatsoever. No sense of occasion either. He could be calling a high school basketball game.

  28. jtm371 says:

Bale has had a night to forget. 3 shots and none on goal.

  29. Jake says:

Bale has been the flop of the match. World record signing and he’s just been appealing. To have 3 chances and not score is just…..
Has he been practicing with Fernando Torres all week on finishing?

  30. Abdirahman says:

What a club special special team congratulations to athletico madrid fully deserve it.

  31. Abdirahman says:

Money can’t buy to yu championsleague trophy! Another 12 years of agony to follow

  32. Smokey Bacon says:

    Superb header. Great goal.

  33. jtm371 says:

  34. Grayson says:

Great shot of Casillas kissing Ramos after the whistle, saying thank you for saving my ass, my career, and my chance of playing in the world cup

  35. tobyjim says:

Brilliant another half an hour at least of Gus.

  36. Bo says:

No matter what, Diego Simeone is manager of the year. Amazing match!!!

    • scott says:

Even after that hair brained stunt of starting Costa, with a hamstring’s injury?

      • Jake says:

The fact that they’ve made it to the final on the budget they have makes you look stupid.
Carlo has won the UCL with the most expensive side in history and the 2 most expensive players of all time so what are we supposed to call him a genius for doing what he was supposed to do?
I’ll congratulate him but Diego won La Liga with a budget less than QPR’s that’s a much bigger achievement
The fact that you question him over making one mistake is just stupid. Do you even watch football outside the Premier League?

        • scott says:

how does their budget in any reflect on my intelligence? They lost the game late on defensive error, with out the Costa stunt they could have put a fresh defender on the field, which may have kept them from conceding the late goal.

  37. jtm371 says:

Hollywood ending for CR match winner at home. If your human your heart goes out to AM so close to the biggest win in club history.

  38. scott says:

Looks like AM will finish the game with ten men. Makes that Costa stunt look even stupider.

  39. velocity_grl says:

    Oh, Atletico.

    The misery continues.

  40. jtm371 says:

Now Bale’s nightmare will be forgotten. Di Maria man of the match.

  41. Smokey Bacon says:

    Money………….well……………….spent. FFS.

  42. Brad says:

    Gareth Bales out Real.

  43. Flyvanescence says:

Gareth Bale. What a dream come true for that lad. Welsh boy goes to Real Madrid and scores late winners in the Spanish Cup and Champions League finals. Delivers La Decima to the longing fans of Real Madrid.

  44. scott says:

AM never looked like they were playing to win, especially in that second half, and it cost them the match.

    • velocity_grl says:

There is a kind of inevitability to all this.

      • scott says:

After RM tied ot up in added time you knew it was all over for AM. They really hadn’t had a sniff at goal all night and knew that was not going to change in extra time.

  45. Smokey Bacon says:

    Game, set and match.

  46. Smokey Bacon says:

It’s good for football that the more creative attacking team won this game. Not impressed with AM. Parking the bus only gets you so far.

    • Grayson says:

didn’t park the bus. High pressed until they tired out. 93 minutes of pressing high is not the same as putting 10 players in your own box.

      • KapUSMC says:

I agree with Grayson.. That wasn’t really parking the bus. They were compact in the back, but they sent men forward and tried to attack. They ran out of gas. Commendable performance on their part, but even more impressive resilience from Real. I’m just disappointed that the end will somewhat tarnish an amazing match.

      • Smokey Bacon says:

Call it what you like. They offered next to nothing going forward. All gamesmanship and fouling. Its no surprise who is their coach. It’s how he was as a player.

        • Flyvanescence says:

Their tactical fouling (aka unless you are on a yellow, if your man beats you in a dangerous area bring him down) is a bit annoying.

  47. jtm371 says:

    DS has lost the plot.

    • scott says:

He’s upset because knows this was his year to do something special and f@*med it up with the Costa stunt so he coulded bring on a fresh defender late in the game and it probably cost them the match and he knows after the game AM will proceed with their annual fire sale.

  48. Smokey Bacon says:

Disgraceful conduct by Simeone. Send him to the stands.

  49. KapUSMC says:

Its really a shame the way this is ending.

  50. Alex Riley says:

It’s sad that two great finals in two weeks have been spoiled by the Gus/Wynalda trainwreck. They are shambles in the commentary booth and a disgrace to the sport of soccer

  51. Abdirahman says:

So sorry can any one delete those two comms i posted in, horribly got wrong! Football can be cruel some times.

  52. goisles01 says:

Wanted Real to win but up 3-1 in e.t., I didn’t like Ronaldo diving like that in order to get his moment and further embarrass Atletico who were warriors today.

    • Flyvanescence says:

      Says the Liverpool fan :-D
And that wasnt a dive. Tired lazy challenge by a beat defender, and he was tripped.

      • goisles01 says:

I don’t care about diving. I just thought it was a bit of overkill. Maybe the ref swallowed the whistle, there were only seconds left. Im not a Ronaldo hater. On the contrary I love watching him play but all year 9/10 on that same play, people would scream dive.
