Landon Donovan Disappointed With Jurgen Klinsmann’s Decision to Drop Him

USMNT midfielder Landon Donovan posted a message on Facebook this evening to express his disappointment with the decision made by USMNT Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann to drop him from the final 23-man World Cup squad.

Donovan said:

“It has been an honor and privilege to have represented the US National Team in three World Cups. I was looking forward to playing in Brazil and, as you can imagine, I am very disappointed with today’s decision. Regardless, I will be cheering on my friends and teammates this summer, and I remain committed to helping grow soccer in the US in the years to come.

“Thanks for all your support.”

It’s important to add that the message was directed to his fans, and not to Klinsmann. However, it was still gracious of Donovan to share the message with US Soccer fans.

  1. You know who’s REALLY pissed? Nike.

… and Gatorade, I’ve seen a bunch of their ads with LandyCakes in the #10 jersey.

  2. If he had took a real crack at the EPL instead of loaners for Everton, he might have still had a spot.
Look at Lampard. He was on the outs at Chelsea and was tempted to play in the MLS. Instead, he trained harder and has been rewarded with the vice-captaincy for England.
