Premier League club Swansea City have announced that the team will be flying to the United States this summer for a training camp in Chicago as well as a series of preseason friendlies.

The only Welsh team in the Premier League will conduct a training camp in Chicago from July 6 to July 20, which will be interspersed with preseason friendlies against Chivas de Guadalajara on July 16 in Milwaukee, as well as a July 19 friendly against Minnesota United in Blaine. It’s quite possible that the Swans may try to squeeze another game into their schedule.

The first and last time Swansea visited the United States was during the summer of 2012 when they played matches in Colorado and California.

“The two weeks in America will provide us with the perfect opportunity to start building our fitness levels ready for the new campaign,” said Swansea manager Garry Monk.

“The first week will be purely fitness work before the introduction of some game-time against Chivas and Minnesota in the second week.”

Swansea’s profile in the United States will be much greater than when the side visited in 2012.

It’ll be the first time a professional soccer game will be played at the stadium. And knowing how many Chivas de Guadalajara fans there are in the area, it’ll certainly be an intimidating away game for Swansea City. Tickets go on sale May 22 at 10 a.m. Ticket prices range from $25 to $70.
